Ebba Hägne

Ebba Hägne (央吉秋贞 Yang Ji Qiu Zhen) is a Swedish-Chinese multidisciplinary illustrator, artist, and art teacher based in Stockholm, Sweden. For all of Ebba’s life, she has been between her two cultures. With roots in western Sweden and southern China, she was raised in Beijing, from the ages of 2 to 16. Ebba later moved back to Sweden and has spent most of her adult life in Gothenburg and Stockholm. Her multicultural background has shaped the foundation of her artistic practice, where community care and in-betweenness serve as two central pillars.

Her latest project, YU HONG QIAO – Jade Rainbow Bridge, is an illustration-led artistic research project. Through researching, exploring, and dissecting the symbols and ornaments commonly found in embroidery traditions from her regional cultural backgrounds, Guangzhou in China and Skaraborg in Sweden, Ebba weaves these influences into visual narratives about home, identity, and belonging.

Ebba holds an MFA in Visual Communication from Konstfack University of Arts, Crafts and Design, as well as a BFA in Design from HDK-Valand Academy of Art and Design.
